Two Plans For Heating Basement

It took me forever to find a wonderful solution for my chilly basement, but i bought my home because the basement was completely finished and I thought that I’d spend a lot of time down there.

I had dreams of watching films, building a home gym, and creating a guest room, and before I moved in, I saw myself using the basement more than any other room, unluckyly, since the basement is underground, it’s a lot colder than any other room in the house. There are only a few weeks during the entire year that I can utilize the basement space comfortably. I found myself rarely going into the basement and it entirely bummed me out. This is when I tried to find a solution for the temperature problem. I hired an Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional to come assess my basement and my Heating, Ventilation and A/C system and he gave me two chances to choose from. The first opening was more expensive, which entirely turned me off, then he recommended that since the basement was already linked to the ductwork, I could add the basement as a second zone and install it’s own temperature control! Other than being too expensive, this opening also meant that I’d have to remember to program the temperature control and give it enough time to hot up the space before I was ready to use it. The second opening was a ductless mini split system. It could link to the electricity and be turned on and off depending if I wanted to use the space. The ductless mini split system was cheaper and quicker to heat and cool the space, without affecting my central Heating, Ventilation and A/C system, so I chose that option!
