It took me forever to find a fantastic solution for my freezing basement, but i purchased my house because the basement was completely finished plus I thought that I’d spend a lot of time down there.
I had dreams of watching movies, building a house gym, plus creating a guest room, then before I moved in, I saw myself using the basement more than any other room, unfortunately, since the basement is underground, it’s a lot colder than any other room in the house, but there are only a few weeks while in the entire year that I can utilize the basement space comfortably.
I found myself rarely going into the basement plus it certainly bummed me out. This is when I tried to find a solution for the temperature problem. I hired an Heating plus A/C professional to come assess my basement plus my Heating plus A/C system plus he gave me two occasions to choose from. The first option was more costly, which certainly turned me off… He proposed that since the basement was already linked to the HVAC duct, I could add the basement as a second zone plus install it’s own control unit, and other than being too costly, this option also meant that I’d have to remember to program the control unit plus give it enough time to boiling up the space before I was ready to use it. The second option was a ductless mini split system. It could link to the electricity plus be turned on plus off depending if I wanted to use the space. The ductless mini split system was cheaper plus quicker to heat plus cool the space, without affecting my central Heating plus A/C system, so I chose that option!
